Beginning of an interesting few days

I ain't going to be sychophantic about the passing of Michael Jackson.
Don't get me wrong, I feel a bit odd. Perhaps because it was late-ish at night when the news broke, and reminded me of the pissed-up night I was at a mate's and the telly gushed out the news of Diana and Dodi's Paris underpass disaster back in 1997.
Back then, rolling news was a sparkle in the eye of BBC top brass. It caught them off-guard.
Now the BBC can flit between agency coverage, its own and even members of the public reporting on its own coverage. Whether this is good or bad is debatable. I know for certain it's bad for the print media. The sheer immediacy of the net, be it TMZ, NBC, BBC or anyone ffs, it means the days of opening a newspaper and saying, 'Hmm, look love, he's done .....' etc.
Roy Greenslade was correct.
The days of newspapers are numbered, and before long you'll be able to count them on your fingers.
The media marketplace is so diluted that a tramp could set up a true contender to the news massives with a camera and a laptop. (I'd better get after him then, I'm sure he was sat in my doorway earlier - and he nicked my camera!)

By the way, R.I.P Mr Music. Talent like that can't just be ignored.
